Chavez is pursuing its rupture with the United States.

Venezuela will pull out of a trade bloc with Columbia and Mexico. That is its latest move to abandon trade deals with countries having free trad agreements with the United States.

The Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said he was withdrawing from the so-called G-3 bloc to safeguard the national interest as Venezuela joins another trade group, MERCOSUR, with other left-leaning governments including Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and the New Southern American Giant, Brazil.
Earlier, in April, Chavez already left the Andean Community after Columbia and Peru had signed a Free Trad Deal with Washington. The venezuelan President said that the free trade agreement with USA would harm the local industry importing American goods.
